Welcome, my name is Sherry Russak, the developer of this website. I am a homecare occupational therapist (OT) with 20+ years experience in various clinical settings in Western New York. I received my undergraduate Occupational Therapy BS degree at the University at Buffalo and recently completed the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) degree at Chatham University. The impetus for developing an evidence-based practice website for Western New York (WNY) OTs evolved during the process of obtaining the OTD degree. This process heightened my awareness to the importance of EBP to our clients, the OT profession, and reimbursement of our services. It is my hope the "about us" will evolve to OT practitioners (including students) working in all healthcare systems in WNY including physical and mental health settings.
Outside of a professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and a household of cats. Cats as in animate beings, not the inanimate CATs in evidence-based practice! I enjoy hiking, biking, and photography in local and distant travels to Maine, the Adirondacks, and the Western states.

Mission
To assist occupational therapy practitioners (including students) in developing research questions relating to their clients and practice, provide information about the EBP process, and provide a space in which practitioners share and engage in discussions about their EBP findings and clinical implementation. With this mission, our clients will receive optimal care through the integration of WNY OT practitioners clinical expertise, with a client-centered approach, through the use of scientific research.
